MANCHESTER CITY V LIVERPOOL MATCH PREVIEW

Well Roy Hodgson is certainly not getting broken in gently with these early fixtures that Liverpool have. He's had to hit the ground running. This following week will be extremely testing as Hodgson is still trying to get to know his players. Hodgson rested his big players on Thursday and just about got away with a decent result, but I think this coming week he will be needing his strongest team available starting with this game against City and then away to Turkey on Thursday.

                                                  THE TEAM

Roy will bring in the big guns for this match after most of them being rested on Thursday so I'm going to go for this team as my line-up for tomorrow's game.

Goalkeeper - Reina
Right Back - Johnson
Left Back - Agger
Centre Back - Carragher
Centre Back - Skrtel
Left Midfield - Jovanovic
Right Midfield - Kuyt
Centre Midfield - Gerrard
Centre Midfield - Mascherano
Striker - N'Gog
Striker - Torres

Thats my team but still question marks over Agger and Mascherano's fitness at the time of writing but if they are fit then I think they will start. 4-4-2 because Cole is unavailable although Hodson has plenty of options with Babel doing well the other night and I thought Poulsen had a decent debut but too big a game for him with his lack of match practice. Maxi and Lucas are two others that could strong candidates for a start along with Kyrgiakos who had a great game the other night. But that is my eleven.

Prediction - Manchester City 1-1 Liverpool

  1. Yeah, I doubt Hodgson will play a 4-4-2 think it's more likely to be a 4-2-3-1, playing Gerrard off Torres if he's fit and Lucas and Masch in the centre of midfield, or maybe Poulsen depending on how he's fared in training etc. Should be a good game though. YNWA.

  2. Nice blog (LFC forum). The 4-4-2 is an interesting one. I personally feel this is the way forward.

    Reina
    Johnson - RB
    Carragher - CB
    Agger - CB
    Aurelio - LB
    Gerrard - CM
    Mascherano - DM
    Kuijt - RW
    Jovanovic - LW
    Pacheco - AM/SS
    N'gog/Torres - CF

To be honest I wouldn't mind any formation that doesn't envolve 2 defensive midfielders. We have 3 at the club so that will most probably be the outcome.

  3. yours is a strong looking line-up as well and I would love to see Pacheco getting more games but I do think in time Hodgson will give the youngsters a chance, thanks for your comments

  5. I thought Mascherano was a man, no he isn't. No respect for this kind of .... man.
