BENFICA V LIVERPOOL MATCH PREVIEW

                                           MATCH PREVIEW

One thing is for sure every game from now until the end of the season is massive for Liverpool and all of them with the feeling of must win games about them,  well maybe we would take a draw away to Benfica.  The games are coming thick and fast with not much respite in the coming weeks so it will be tough.
We go to Portugal on the back of a great performance last Sunday and it will give the team great confidence going into such a big game.  I think it will be a very tough game with Benfica highlighting their capabilities earlier in the competition in convincing fashion in the way in which they dispatched of Everton,  so Liverpool will have to be wary.  Benfica are a side very dangerous going forward and play a very quick passing game which Liverpool will have to close down or be taken apart.  So i think Rafa will resort back to being ultra defensive again tomorrow night due to his concern of the threat Benfica pose.
                                            THE TEAM

So i reckon Rafa will go to this team selectino for tomorrow night
Goalkeeper- Reina
Rightback- Johnson
Leftback- Insua
Centreback- Agger
Centreback- Carragher
Left midfield- Babel
Right midfield- Kuyt
Centre midfield- Lucas
Centre midfield- Mascherano
Centre midfield (attacking)- Gerrard
Centre forward- Torres

I think this will be Rafa's defensive team selection,  just not sure if he'll play Babel or bring back Benayoun,  but i'm pretty sure about the rest of the team.
                                           PREDICTION

BENFICA 1-1 LIVERPOOL  I would take this as a result away from home and finish them off back at Anfield.

KEY PLAYER- Mascherano -  I think he will have to be at his best to protect the defence and break up the Benfica passing game.

  1. I agree if Mascherano is fired up then we will have a lot more of the play. We may have the best striker in the world but if he gets no service then we've not a chance.

  2. congrats on the team selection, i think its spot on. i would like to see babel and benayoun both playing, but i doubt that will happen as we playing away from home and its not neccesary to be that attacking as yet. we could play the way we did against sunderland the weekend, with Gerrard dropping into midfield and kuyt upfront helping Torres. however thats not going to happen, even though it would be very positive.....
my prediction 2 - 2. two away goals, great result....

  3. European cup is the last hope to Rafa and his team. With a goal left behind, chances for Reds to qualify are still high when they host tonight.

My bet on Liverpool because they can always make a turnover in critical stage.
